Saturday, APRIL 27-   - at the AllGood Cafe-
         The SOUTH AUSTIN JUG BAND
featuring Warren Hood, James Hyland, Matt Slusher, Willie Pipkin, and Will Dupuy.

    Warren Hood
is the son of the late, great Austin musician Champ Hood, who passed late last year and was honored at this years Austin Music awards. Champ was one third of the seminal Austin group Uncle Walts Band with Walter Hyatt and David Ball, then went on to be in the original Lyle Lovetts Large Band, followed by about ten years as one of Toni Prices indispensible sidemen and leading the weekly Threadgill Supper Sessions. Anyone who frequented any of these shows would often be treated to the occasional appearance of Champs young son Warren. At the tender ages of ten, and twelve, and fourteen you would see Warren sit in with Champ and Toni for Old Fiddlers Waltz or some old swing tune or favorite Uncle Walt song. Now 18, Warren is a virtuoso of both the violin and the fiddle (ask him the difference) and has won Best of Class twice in Austin Solo competition, performed as a soloist with the Austin Civic Orchestra and the Austin Symphony and has just won a full scholarship to the Berklee School Of Music.
James Hyland plays rhythm guitar and sings. In Nov. 2000, James released a solo album entitled Place I Call Home, which was produced by Marvin Dykhuis (Tish Hinojosa and Threadgill Troubadors).
Matt (The SLUSH!) Slusher plays mandolin, guitar and sings. Matt is one of the finest flat pickers in Texas. He has been playing guitar for the last 20 years in bands ranging from hard-core Punk to Traditional Country. He started playing mandolin while Lead Guitarist for Rodney Hayden, and has quickly become one of the most sought after mandolin players in Texas.
Willie Pipkin plays lead guitar and sings. Legendary Blues-promoter Clifford Antone gave him his first guitar. At age 15 he started hanging out at Atone's where he met his biggest influences, including Derek O'Brien and Lazy Lester.
Will Dupuy plays upright bass and sings. He has been playing instruments of all varieties for 17 years. His mother is opera singer Virginia Dupuy. Will was founding member of Dallas punk/funk band U62. After seeing a Reverend Horton Heat show 4 years ago, Will vowed to learn the art of slappin' the doghouse bass.

Coming to a Jug Band performance is truly an experience. No two shows are the same. One never knows when the band is gonna surprise the crowd and provoke a hoot and a holler !

Show @ 9:00PM  Tickets $5.00 At the door.
