Dennis Gonzalez is a legend of the New Jazz genre who leads one of the few free-, ethnic-, and improvisational-jazz groups in the North Texas region, the trio Yells At Eels, with his sons Aaron and Stefan. The younger González musicians now bring new sounds to the band. Distinct elements of punk, metal, thrash, and grindcore unexpectedly merge with Dennis González’ lyricism. He has extended his trumpet through the use of guitar pedals. The combination is a surprisingly natural fit. Yells at Eels unite disparate musical elements with a passion, openness and care that can only be achieved among the closest of collaborators.
