mike snider presents began on January 14, 1994 at the historic Sons of Hermann Hall when Maryann Price (ex-Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks) performed with her Austin-based swing band featuring Slim Richey on guitar. The whole rhyme and reason for this show was to afford the people of Dallas and North Texas the opportunity to see and hear this fantastic swing-jazz guitarist, and present such in the beautiful wood confines of the Sons of Hermann ballroom. There was no notion, originally, of doing any other shows - but with the success and feedback from this night under our belts we undertook another. Our 2nd show featured the punkrock-bluegrass of the Bad Livers with a brand new, very young, local act as opener - The Old 97s. The rest of the story is like one long, wild train-ride ... and has included so many acts and venues - and nights of great music, great songs and songwriters, and great fun.

Always a good time when The O's are in the house, and tonight they're throwing down their last notes before getting on the big Transatlantic Steamer, or plane maybe, whatever ... One of the Best Bands that ever has walked and worked the streets of Deep Ellum and Big D, The CARTWRIGHTS are STILL one of the Best Bands you'll ever see, anywhere. They truly are THAT GOOD. Triple the talent of most acts, the show simply rotates the great songs of Barry Kooda, Donny Ray Ford and Alan Wooley with the help of guitar whiz Kim Herriage and they steady beat of Ron Gulley and they could blow away any band on the block.

Here's a new side project by one of the cornerstones of Dallas Blues and Rock and Live Music in general the great Hash Brown. Come see what Brian Calway and his buddies have in store for you.

Terry Allen, Angus Wynne, John Kenyon, and me (that's me back there in the shadows) and Kinky Friedman. Wednesday night, January 8, 2014 at the pre-opening soiree for the new Vagabond Club on lower Greenville. We were treated to a reprise of the show/album Chippy that Terry Allen and his wife Jo Harvey wrote nearly 20 years ago. Joining Terry, his sons Bukkah and Bale and Flatlanders Butch Hancock and Joe Ely along with Panhandle Mystery Band stalwart Richard Bowden. The night was nothing less than pure magic.

Come on OUT! ... SEE & HEAR some GREAT Live Music.
